Any good "kid-run" businesses? They could win $1000!
With cash prizes of $250 to $1,000 and free mentoring from Colorado business leaders on the line, the Young Americans Center for Financial Education (http://www.yacenter.org) is seeking entries to its 10th annual “Celebration for Young Entrepreneurs Contest,” with the deadline to enter Friday, July 17. Celebrating the spirit of Young Americans’ founder Bill Daniels, one of America’s greatest entrepreneurs, this exciting competition is open to all Colorado business people ages 6-21 who own and run their own businesses and there is no cost to enter.
Winners receive $1,000 and finalists receive $250 to be used for business or education. In addition, winners also have the chance to work with and learn from a Presenting Mentor – a leader from the Denver business community who will share business advice, experience and encouragement. Past Presenting Mentors have included John Ikard, CEO of FirstBank Holding Company of Colorado, Mimi Roberson, CEO of Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center and Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children at P/SL, Katherine Ott, CEO of Slimgenics, Donna Lynne, President of Kaiser Permanente Colorado, Dick Saunders, Founder of Saunders Construction and others. This year, Linda Childears, President and CEO of The Daniels Fund will serve as a presenting mentor, with other mentors to follow.
A panel of independent judges will read the applications and select one winner and two finalists from three age categories. Winners, finalists and all applicants will be invited to the Celebration for Young Entrepreneurs dinner and awards ceremony on September 15, 2011, at the Seawell Grand Ballroom at the Denver Center for Performing Arts in downtown Denver.
